“Teach a Girl to Fish” ~ A Mission for Gender Wealth Parity ~
Assisting women, girls and underserved populations increase their equity stakes in the broader economy
Community Capital Advisors (CCA) is a result-driven small nonprofit that produces oversized outcomes. The organization was born in the 1990s when Tony Campolo, PhD - a former spiritual advisor to President Bill Clinton sent a group of Eastern University graduates to assist a former Philadelphia Eagle with economic development projects in North Philadelphia, including a credit union and charter school. Since 1998, we have provided various forms of technical assistace to grassroots groups, including the formation of CDFIs, STEM education ecosystems, and social-impact projects. Our current activities include the 6721-23 Musgrave Street rehab project to kickstart an affordable housing initiative, Women Capital (USA), and Liberia Institute for Girls - Todee (LIG).
“Teach a Girl to Fish!” - A mission for Gender Wealth Parity
“Teach a Girl to Fish” - is our revised mission since 2018, primarily focused on lifting women and girls to fulfill their highest potentials and ambitions - and so, lifting others. As Melinda Gates noted in, The Moment of Lift: How Empowering Women Changes the World,
“When you lift up women, you lift up everybody – families, communities, entire countries.”
Although tiny, we help build intervention mechanisms that bridge gender wealth disparity - going beyond gender pay gap; arguably, a pivotal gender and social equity issue. Our work has been featured in U.S. mainstream media and international papers, including the Philadelphia Business Journal; the American Banker, and the Liberian Observer.
